The Regimental History was written by Dr. Rod Macleod, a distinguished Canadian historian. Rod has taught, published, and presented papers on Canadian military history. Rod has also published numerous works on western Canadian history and law enforcement and is the author of a history of Edmonton for the City of Edmonton Centennial Website.

Rod made extensive use of The Loyal Edmonton Military Museum archives and library and interviewed members of the Regiment while researching this history of the Regiment. On behalf of The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Museum, Maj (ret’d) John Matthews CD, rmc, BA; Maj (ret’d) David Haas CD, rmc, BA (Hons), MA, JD; Capt (ret'd)Terry Allison, CD; and LCol (ret’d) Lee Ahlstrom CD, BEd, LLB, QC, KofStJ reviewed drafts of Rod's history for historical accuracy. Dr. Bob Hesketh, Dr. Bob Cole, and Chris Hackett of Chinook Multimedia provided editorial assistance.

Rod is now a Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Alberta where he taught for many years. He is currently working on a history of the RCMP musical ride and a biography of Samuel Benfield Steele, the former North-West Mounted Police superintendent who is perhaps best remembered for establishing law and order in the Yukon during the Klondike gold rush.
